In the emotional clip, the makeup mogul explained — as tears ran down his face — that one of his family members had sadly passed away.
“Hey you guys, there’s no easy way to say this but something really, really horrible has happened to us,” he said, as he broke down on camera. “I’ve been off my phone for days. We’ve been pretending to be on vacation and we’ve been home for 4 days now and I have really, really horrible news to share with you guys. We lost a member of our family this week. I’m so devastated and so heartbroken and I don’t even know what to say or think right now. Just know that I’ll be back soon.”
And since he didn’t specify who from his family had passed away, naturally, a ton of rumors quickly started spreading. But now, the 33-year-old has revealed in a new video uploaded to his YouTube channel on Tuesday, June 11 that it was his dog Diamond.
“This may be the hardest video that we’ve ever had to upload,” he said in the video, titled RIP Diamond.. Losing Our Best Friend. “There’s no easy way to say this. But a few days ago we lost a member of our family. Diamond Star, our beautiful 9-year-old Pomeranian, she passed away a few days ago.”
“Two days into it, Nate’s friend, who always watches our dogs with our security, he called us and he was really concerned,” he shared. “We got a call that she was doing really bad, like worse than ever, and we panicked and we started looking for flights home. We got an emergency flight home and before we could go to the airport, he called and said she was gone.”
“When we came home from the flight it was really, really rough,” the social media star continued. “But we got to come home and we got to say goodbye to her in the proper way, with all the dogs surrounding her.”
The YouTuber revealed that the pup unfortunately faced a lot of health problems before her sad passing.
“Diamond has had a lot of health problems for a really long time,” he added. “For the last year and a half she’s been having a lot of struggles. She was bred really small and she has a really small heart. She was so tough and to strong every day. Every day she was smiling.”
As fans know, the 33-year-old has five other dogs with his boyfriend, Nate Schwandt. They’re all Pomeranians, and have been featured in his YouTube videos and on his social media numerous times over the years.
“I’m so empty, I just feel so hollow,” he continued. “I can’t believe it, the fact that there’s one less in our tribe is so heartbreaking. I just feel so empty right here. If anyone else has ever had a loss of a pet you know how horrible and deep this is. I’m just so grateful that we got to spend so much time with her.”
“All I feel is sorrow. We’re surrounded by our dogs and the fact that my baby isn’t sitting in front of us is really, really hard,” Jeffree said. “She was such a huge part of my life. Diamond, I love you so much. Thank you for being so special in my life.”
“I wanted to share the news with everyone because I can’t just pretend and go on uploading makeup videos and act like nothings wrong. We have shared so much of our lives with you guys and this is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to say. We’ve been crying for two days straight and we’re so numb at this point,” he concluded. “We’re gonna go celebrate her life. I hope you guys understand we’re going to take some time off. In an emotional Instagram post shared on Sunday (6 October), Jeffree revealed that his adorable Pomeranian had died after undergoing emergency surgery. The YouTuber said “his body couldn’t handle the surgery plus the complications of his medical condition”.
The musician and cosmetics entrepreneur made a post on Instagram today sharing his feelings and a few photos of his beloved dog.
“RIP Diamond Star ??⭐️ My heart is broken in half right now… Nathan and I have to share with you the devastating news of the passing of our 9 year old baby girl Diamond. Words can’t begin to explain the loss and heart ache we are feeling right now… for a third of my life she made me smile every single day. After sharing some somber tweets yesterday, Jeffree Star shared the news that he and his partner “lost a member of our family this week.”
According to a memorial video Star posted today, he and his partner Nathan were away on vacation when they learned of Diamonds passing.
Star mentions in the video that Diamond had suffered health problems after being rescued from a puppy mill, but had held on strong throughout the hardships.

Within minutes of sharing the news, Jeffree’s loyal fans flocked to his social media pages to share their love and condolences. “I am so very sorry to hear this. No one will know the true pain you feel other than you two. Sending you nothing but love,” one user commented. “Oh, no! Poor baby. Love you, Jeffree. You’re in my prayers,” added another.

“She was not only my best friend but the light in my world. Nathan and the rest of our family feel so heartbroken and have been crying for days,” he continued. “There is no love like the love I have for my dogs and I’m at a loss for words,” Jeffree added, referring to his five other Pomeranians — Diva, Daddy, Delicious, Drama and Da Vinci.
