Lisa Vanderpump and her husband, Ken Todd, are mourning the loss of their beloved dog, Giggy.
The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star shared the tragic news on Instagram on Saturday, Dec. 12, posting a slideshow of photos of her pup alongside a touching tribute to him in the caption.
“We are devastated to say that our beloved Giggy has passed away this morning,” she wrote. “He was truly loved, and we know how many of you loved him too.”
She continued, explaining, “Our sweet Gigolo was such an incredible, unique dog, but mainly, because of him, we started The Vanderpump Dog Foundation and embarked on our mission to save as many dogs as possible.”
“He inspired us to start our work in rescue, and for that we will always be grateful,” she added. “Giggy’s legacy will live on, through every dog @vanderpumpdogs saves. Thank you all for your support. Rest In Peace Giggy, we love you. – Ken & Lisa.”
“Giggy was the First Dog of Bravo,” Andy Cohen wrote. “Truly love at first sight for the cutest pup we’d ever seen. RIP beautiful Gigolo.”
A fan wrote, “I don’t normally comment on things for celebrities however my heart breaks for you and I’m so sorry for your loss. Giggy is an absolute icon.”
Vanderpump, 60, and her husband, 63, co-founded The Vanderpump Dog Foundation in 2016 to “help create a better world for dogs,” according to the official website. The couple opened up the Vanderpump Dogs rescue center in Los Angeles the following year in May, which helps rescue abandoned dogs in addition to providing them with medical treatment.
“Ken and I have been fighting for the kind of more humane treatment of dogs worldwide,” Vanderpump told E! back in 2017. “One of the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle was really to open a rescue center but we wanted to open a rescue center that wasnt, like, depressing and I know its like nothing else youve ever seen.”
She continued, adding, “…With this space, we want it to have a…feel-good factor about it. All dogs are equal. It doesnt matter whether theyre pedigree…so many of these dogs are just waiting for homes.”
Lisa Vanderpumps beloved dog, Giggy, has died. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star took to Instagram on Saturday to mourn the death of the Pomeranian, who turned 10 earlier this year.
“We are devastated to say that our beloved Giggy has passed away this morning,” Vanderpump shared alongside a collage of photos of Giggy. “He was truly loved, and we know how many of you loved him too.”
“Its a sad day in Bravo Nation,” Andy Cohen wrote on his Instagram Story. “Giggy was the first dog of Bravo.”
Giggy had made numerous appearances on TV and at public appearances with Vanderpump. Last year, Vanderpump told BravoTV.com that Giggy had alopecia, a condition that causes hair to fall in small patches.
“Our sweet Gigolo was such an incredible, unique dog, but mainly, because of him, we started The Vanderpump Dog Foundation and embarked on our mission to save as many dogs as possible,” she continued. “He inspired us to start our work in rescue, and for that we will always be grateful. Giggy’s legacy will live on, through every dog @vanderpumpdogs saves.”

Bravo fans have never really known a time without Giggy. He has been by Lisas side or in the arms of her husband, Ken Todd, since the moment we first met her in Season 1 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Giggy became instantly iconic, amassing admirers among Bravo fans and celebrities alike, giving us unforgettable Watch What Happens Live moments over the years, and inspiring others to fight for the welfare of dogs everywhere.
Toward the end of Giggys life, Lisa said that he “wasnt in great shape” and had to be resuscitated many times. “The last time I tried, and I just couldn’t bring him back. And after about 10 minutes I just, I said we’ve got to let him go, you know,” Lisa recalled. “And it was devastating.”
Lisa previously opened up about caring for Giggy amid his health issues during The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show filmed during Season 9. “Giggy has to be monitored very, very carefully, 24/7. And has an incubator always on standby and oxygen. And he has a pacemaker waiting for him if his condition deteriorates. Sleeps on the bed,” she explained. “But hes never, ever left alone, because if he has a fit, then he needs a little CPR, he needs oxygen.”
“Do you know what’s so ironic? I’ve been on television, done, what, maybe about 450 episodes over the years [with] Vanderpump Rules and Housewives. There’s more portraits of Giggy, paintings and photographs, than there’s ever been of me,” Lisa said of how much Giggy was cherished among the public during an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider in March. “People have spent hours painting portraits of Giggy, and I’ve got them all. They’re in the [Vanderpump Dogs rescue center], and they’re here [at Lisas house, Villa Rosa].”
Thats not to mention the special place that Giggy will always have in Lisas heart. “He was an incredible little character,” she shared. “He had the best life ever. And that’s what we kind of intend is just to give your pets the best life that they deserve.” More The Daily Dish
