Walmart has never had its own manufacturing plant for Ol’ Roy Dog Food. The Mars pet food division headquarters is in Brentwood, Tennessee. Ol’ Roy is the best-selling dog food in the United States according to some stats, but still only receives a one-star rating.

Ol Roy. Developed by Mars Petcare, Ol’ Roy is Walmart’s private label dog food brand, named after Sam Walton’s dog Roy. With its storied history, the brand was in need of a refresh – honor the legacy while giving the brand a more contemporary look an feel.

    Today, we learn of yet another national brand of dog food was found to contain the lethal euthanizing drug sodium pentobarbital: Walmart’s brand Ol’ Roy canned dog food. Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, is now in the process of quietly removing it from all 4,700 stores across America.

    They contracted with Doane Pet Care Company to make their products. Doane Pet Care, as well as Ol’ Roy, is owned by Mars Corporation, the largest manufacturer of pet food in the world.
