He said: “My mum is very stressed. My sister is five, she is crying. She is not eating or drinking.”
In an exclusive interview with the Irish Mirror, the boy’s older brother Raul, 21, revealed his family’s pain. He told us: “We’re devastated. We don’t have words to describe the feeling we have now. My little brother is only nine years old, the pitbull nearly killed him.
But describing his brother’s injuries, he added: “You can only see his nose and his eyes, the rest you cannot see anything.”
“We don’t know what to do or how to act, we’re just in shock. We just thank god that he’s still alive. My brother is a very strong boy and he survived.”
After emergency services arrived at the scene, the child was brought to the local GAA grounds where the Irish Coast Guard’s Rescue 117 helicopter airlifted the boy to Crumlin Children’s Hospital in Dublin. Alejandro underwent emergency surgery on Sunday evening before another one on Monday.
The 56-year-old great-grandmother had lacerations and puncture wounds on her arms. Her wounds were not life-threatening and she continues to recover at a hospital.
Meanwhile, Serenity’s aunt Kendal Crawley started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for funeral expenses. Within 17 hours, it had surpassed its goal of $10,000. Also in Serenity’s memory, the family is planning a balloon release and vigil at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in front of the house.
“We probably get calls every month to a month and a half about a dog case that has resulted in a serious injury,” he said. “These can be very serious, very tragic consequences as a result of owning a dog.”
The report says deputies responded around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday to the home and found the great-grandmother and the girl being treated by fire crews for injuries.

Around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon Shelby County Sheriff Detectives were called to the 700 block of Sylvan Road near Shelby Forest State Park, that’s a rural part of unincorporated Shelby County.
Based on property records and social media posts, it appears the attack occurred at the children’s grandparents’ house.
