The refrigerator or freezer is the best place to store your treats. They can last from 1 to 2 months in the refrigerator if stored in an air tight container.
If you need to store them longer then 2 months the freezer is the best place to keep them as they can be frozen for up to 6 months (if kept in the freezer for longer then 6 months they may start to suffer from freezer burn).
As much as your dog is going to love the treats you bake I’m sure storage isn’t going to be an issue!
If you some how manage to keep your dog from devouring all the yummy treats you’ve just baked your going to need to keep them fresh until the next time you want to see them jump for joy.
I still have a bit of extra dough left over, so can I put it in Saran Wrap and a Ziploc bag and freeze it?Chefs Answer ~ Great question, absolutely! This dough, and many other dog cookie doughs would work very well being kept in the freezer. You could even roll it into a log, then package it up like you mentioned. When youre ready to make more dog cookies, thaw the dough enough to slice and place rounds directly on your baking sheet and into the oven. I hope this helps. Happy Dog Treat Baking. 🙂

Wondering how long you can store dog treats? We’ve got an easy rundown here for both commercial and homemade treats. Buying (or making) dog treats in bulk can be a great way to save money and know you always have treats on hand, but it’s critical that you store them safely.
Typically they are intended to be stored in their packaging which has been developed to extend the freshness. Look for a “best by” date on packaging.
If you find a favorite brand on sale, you can freeze commercial treats to extend their freshness. (See below for our freezing tips.)
