He visited a local astrologer about it, who told him he had only had one way to remove his curse—he had to marry a dog. The man’s family approved. They even helped him pick out the best dog to be his bride. Then they threw a lavish wedding ceremony, complete with a feast, to celebrate the eternal union of man and dog.

The tribal custom is also intended to safeguard a child from demons. For instance, the Santhal tribe believes a child is in grave danger if their very first tooth appears on the upper gum. A canine marriage is said to be the only way of warding off evil. Although the child can remarry a human after growing up.

Member of the village jury asked her to get married to a dog. The elders of the village said that the marriage would not affect the girl’s life, and that she would be free to marry again and did not need to divorce the dog. The wedding took place on 11 June and was attended by more than 100 guests. When the girl was asked about her marriage with the dog- she replied “I have no regret in marrying the dog. Bacchan (the dog) is a street dog who survives on left-over, and from now onward I am going to take care of him.

It may be superstition or rituals, the practice of marrying an animal sounds weird. The world is obsessing over the love for pets and animals and we can understand that but marrying them just because of custom is not sensible. Marriage the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship. Marriage means when two person love each other ,respect each other, take care of each other and the most important they shares the responsibilities. So, how can a dog do that? Yes, one may get married later to a human after completing the rituals, but the question is what is the need of marrying an animal first? As we know that sentiments, emotions and believe are attached with this so arguing in this topic is too difficult.
