We recommend keeping your pet covered with a high-quality insurance policy. If you have an insurance policy/voucher from a charity or other funder please ensure that we are aware of this prior to commencing treatment, so that we can assist you with processing this.
Can you compare vet costs?
Comparing vet fees is no mean feat. The best approach is to check out each respective vet’s website to see the charges. While costs are not always as clear as you’d like, there’s nothing to stop you calling to clarify.
What happens if I have pet insurance?
Pet insurance is designed as a safety net to protect you against unexpected costs relating to your pet. You buy it upfront, and then claim when your animal has treatment from a vet.
According to the latest figures from the Association of British Insurers, the average annual pet insurance premium in 2019 was £271.*
However, the price you pay will depend on a number of factors, including the type of cover you are looking to purchase, the type of animal you want to cover, its breed and age – and how much the excess is (the amount of a claim you agree to pay yourself).
Further figures from the ABI show that, in 2019, the average pet insurance pay out was £822 – up £20 on the previous year. But you need to watch out for exclusions (see below).
