What Role Did Max Play in The Movie?
Played mostly by Kelly, the dog, Max was one of the lead roles in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He lived with the Grinch, his owner, on the outskirts of Whoville, and although vastly different from the Grinch, he remained loyal and devoted to him throughout the movie.
Max is a sort of moral compass to the Grinch and often prompts him to make the best decision by throwing out a bark or blink. However, regardless of the grumpy Grinch’s decision or attitude, Max always looks out for his friend and shows him unconditional love.
Max’s character is a pure representation of dogs and their steadfast devotion to their owners, regardless of how they’re treated. Perhaps Max is an example of how we should be towards our pets and the people around us.
What Was The Name Of The Dog In The Grinch?
Grinch’s faithful dog and sidekick was called Max.
The original book How the Grinch Stole Christmas doesn’t reveal a whole story of how Max became the Grinch’s pet. It’s unlikely that Max was a stray dog who had gotten to the Grinch’s mountain all by himself – it’s too far away from the town. The Grinch also couldn’t have picked up Max in the town since he tried to avoid going there in the first place.
Since these two mentioned options seem improbable, another theory of how the Grinch became Max’s master appeared. According to the theory, Max was a Christmas puppy that someone didn’t want anymore. Most likely, Max arrived in the trash to the mountain where the Grinch lived. He was discarded by the Whos along with other Christmas gifts.
The fact that the Grinch rescued and raised Max after he was thrown away as a puppy would also explain why Max tolerated the grumpy green creature after all the abuse.
What Type of Dog Is Lady & Tramp?
In Disney’s 1955 animated classic, Lady & The Tramp, Lady is an American Cocker Spaniel. The Cocker Spaniel’s long, fluffy ears, feather fur style, and large eyes are prominent in Lady.
This breed has historically been used as a sporting dog (cocker is thought to stem from the woodcock birds that the dogs were commonly used to hunt, while spaniel is believed to connect with their Spanish origins).
Today, American Cocker Spaniels make great family and show dogs!
Lady’s counterpart Tramp is a mutt – he’s a street dog with unknown origins (very mysterious and romantic indeed). Although one savvy Disney detective has determined that, based on Tramp’s size , behavior, and look, he could believably be an Elkhound/Husky/Otterhound mix. Officially though, he’s a mutt!
