How To Get Dog License Terraria

The Dog License is a consumable item that can be purchased from the Zoologist for 5 after filling out 25% (131 entries) of the Bestiary. Using it allows a Town Dog to move into town the next morning. The Zoologist stops selling Dog Licenses as soon as one has been used in the world.

Many of the Dogs possible names are references:

  • The Bestiary entry for the Town Dog: A loyal companion to many. Excitable and always ready for action.
  • Up first, you need a Zoologist NPC in your town. For this to happen, you will have to fill in 10 percent of your Bestiary. Filling your Bestiary is quite easy. All you need to do is explore the world, kill creatures and monsters, and talk to NPCs. You can check your Bestiary in the main menu by clicking on the little book icon beside the trash can. To fully fill out a creature’s entry in the Bestiary, you will need to kill them numerous times.

When you hit 10 percent in the Bestiary, you can build a new house in your town, and the Zoologist will move in, and you can then purchase a cat license from them. It will cost 5 gold. The Zoologist prefers to live in the Forest biome, and the ideal neighbors will be the Witch Doctor and Golfer.

When you get the cat license, use it like any other item, and a cat will be summoned to your town the following day. You can pet the cat, and it will bring you presents upon occasion. Keep in mind that the Zoologist will only sell one cat license per world, so you won’t be able to have dozens of cats running around.

Terraria 1.4 introduced a way to get a cat as a pet, which is certainly nice. An indifferent animal living in your town, silently judging you, is exactly what every game needs. You can’t just go out and grab one, however. If you want to get a pet cat, you will need to put some work in for it.

How do you get a pet puppy in Terraria?

Once the Zoologist has moved in and you have 10% of your Bestiary complete, you can buy a Cat License. It’ll cost about five gold and 25 silver, which will feel like a lot depending on what stage of the game you’re at, but I promise it’s worth it to get a new furry friend.

What does the cat from the Cat License do in Terraria?

You need to complete 10% of the Bestiary entries which is 52 entries. You get these entries from NPC conversations and defeating various enemies. The next thing you need to do is get a house for Zoologist to move into. Once you unlock 10% of the Bestiary the Zoologist will be unlocked and ready to interact with.
