It is really super fun, especially with a dog who enjoys learning new things! The heeling patterns are Coba’s very favorite game I play with him, and the borzois can be lured into the interest of an intellectual puzzle, especially for a reward like being allowed off leash sprint time, or bacon.

The question is, what are these Achiever Dog Certificates they got in the mail? It turns out, this is a new AKC program to recognize dogs who participate in a variety of sports. It is not a title, but a certificate. The program started on December 1, 2017, and will run for one year. To qualify, you must title in three of the approved sports, one of those titles must be earned after December 1, 2017. AKC will evaluate the program after the first year to decide if it will continue or not. My sisters have big sports aspirations, so I think it is the perfect certificate for both of them. Has anyone else out there earned an Achiever Dog Award?
Have you heard of the new AKC Achiever Dog program? My sisters, have been waiting for mail from the AKC with their RATN Titles they earned back in March. Last week, they were shocked when four large envelopes showed up instead of two! The extra two envelopes were from the Achiever Dog program.
Bailie was proud to get her RATN Title finally. She got her first of three legs back in June 2018, so it took her almost two years to finally get the title. Bailie is now Ethos Irish Cream CGC TD RATN. The AKC does not recognize NACSW Nose Work Titles or she would have many more!
Madison had a much easier road to her RATN Title. She tried Barn Hunt for the first time last June, and got her first leg. Within nine months she earned her title. Madison is our little Ethos Intel Inside CGC TD RATN.
