Is Palmolive Safe For Dogs

If you’re here, you probably know the reason why. You’re looking for the answer to does Palmolive kill fleas?

We all know that pet shampoos are getting more and more expensive by the day. So, are you thinking of using one of the most popular and pocket-friendly dish soaps? Palmolive does not leave your wallet dry.

Secondly, Palmolive, like other dish soaps, contains harsh chemicals including dyes, perfumes, and alcohol. These can damage your pup’s skin and coat.

You may have heard the Palmolive slogan, tough on grease, soft on hands, but let it be known that it also makes for a shiny coat on dogs! That’s right, we recently discovered that Palmolive Ultra makes a great dog shampoo! Rather than spend a ton on pricy dog shampoos, we can now get a years worth of dog washes out of one bottle of good old Palmolive Ultra (found at stores like Walmart)!

Currently, to get the best results, I make sure my dog is completely wet, and rinsed with warm water before adding a couple of good drizzles of soap.

If your dog has extremely sensitive skin, or allergies I probably would advise using anything but a specially made dog shampoo, however if he/she does not then Palmolive works great! We currently bathe our dog once every 3 weeks with Palmolive, and I have to say her coat looks especially shiny and healthy. The coolest part is, Palmolive also kills fleas too!!!

I then lather her up and scrub her coat, under her neck, paws, and belly. Palmolive does not make a ton of suds on her, and helps to get all the gunk, and dirt out of her fur without during her skin out. Of course, every dog is different, but for us Palmolive Ultra makes a great dog shampoo!

Is Dish Soap Like Palmolive or Dawn Toxic for Pets?

While it won’t hurt to bathe your dog in dish soap once or twice, regularly using dish detergent instead of dog shampoo isn’t the best idea.

First of all, dish detergent is designed to cut through grease. You may think this makes it ideal for washing oils out of fur, but the chemicals in dish soaps are much too harsh for regular use.

With continued use, or even after just one washing for some dogs, it will dry out their skin and coat. This can lead to uncomfortable itching and flaking, as well as an overproduction of oil that will require more frequent baths.

Second, Palmolive and many other dish soaps contain alcohol, dyes, fragrance, and lots of other chemicals that aren’t good for your dog.

Not only are they damaging to his skin and coat, but when he licks himself (which he’s more likely to do if he feels itchy from the harsh soap), he ingests traces of these chemicals.

As a matter of fact, on their website, Palmolive warns that their dishwashing liquids aren’t recommended for bathing or shampooing.
