“Some essential oils are safe for pets; however, it is never recommended to apply concentrated essential oils to your pet’s skin,” Dr. Jones noted.

“It is safest to buy a product that is specifically labeled as an insect repellent for dogs versus trying to make a diluted essential oil concoction yourself,” Dr. Jones said.
