What is the smallest dog in the world?

The world’s smallest individual dog, recognized by Guinness World Records, is Milly, a 1-pound Chihuahua born in 2011. Measuring 9.65 centimeters, or 3.8 inches tall, the tiny dog sleeps in a crib and only eats “food cooked by humans.”

Born in December 2011, she weighs roughly 1 pound (half a kilogram) and is known for often sticking out her tiny tongue when someone takes her picture. “She knows how to pose,” says Vanesa.

“People are amazed when they see her because she is so small, and she has a big personality. People love her.”

The smallest dog living, in terms of height, is female Chihuahua Miracle Milly, who measures 9.65 cm (3.8 in) tall and is owned by Vanesa Semler of Dorado, Puerto Rico.

She slept in a dolls crib next to Semlers bed, growing stronger as the months passed.

When she was born, Miracle Milly weighed less than an ounce and fit in a teaspoon, Semler said. Her mouth was too tiny to nurse from her mother, so Semler gave her milk every two hours through an eyedropper.

What is the Smallest Dog in the World?

Miracle Milly the Chihuahua currently holds the Guinness World Record for the worlds smallest dog. She weighed approximately one pound and was under 4 inches tall—well below the average of her fellow Chihuahuas. Miracle Milly unfortunately passed away in 2020, but not before capturing the hearts of millions around the world, including on her own island of Puerto Rico.
