Why was dog unleashed Cancelled? Find Out Here

The saga of Dog the Bounty Hunters canceled show Dog Unleashed continues to unfold, as the company that was set to air the series on its new streaming platform is suing the CBD company selling Dog Unleashed CBD. Although it is not clear if the CBD product was the reason behind the cancellation, Unleashed Entertainment surprisingly stopped production on the series in late March, just days before the April 1 launch of its Unleashed streaming platform. The company cited a breach of “contractual obligations.” Duane “Dog” Chapman has not commented on the situation, but he tweeted on Friday that he has “nothing to do” with Unleashed now.

In a statement online, the company confirmed it filed a lawsuit against the CBD company and “encourages followers to exercise caution when taking medical or financial advice from unverified sources.” Unleashed also does not endorse CBD Globals “financial promises or medical claims.” In the end, Unleashed shared information on what to do if they feel they have been victimized by a “Ponzi-type scheme,” urging followers to complain to the SEC.

“Unleashed Entertainment is in no way connected to CBD Global Sciences, and had no choice but to file a lawsuit to prevent CBD Global Sciences from unlawfully using our marketing materials to advertise their products,” the statement said. “It is clear that this company and Duane Chapman, Dog the Bounty Hunter, engaged in a campaign of fraud to induce people to invest in a scheme that is not only unrelated to our business in any way but is not congruent with our values. Even as of Sunday, April 4, both CBD Global and Duane Chapman continue to advertise using Unleashed marketing materials. Unleashed has issued several demands that the defendants cease using the material and the company will be asking the court to enter an injunction against the defendant.”

Meanwhile, Chapman appears to have distanced himself from Unleashed. “Dont be fooled by knock-off brands,” the reality TV star wrote. “Dog has nothing to do w/ unleashed but just wait for whats coming!!!!”

In late March, Unleashed Entertainment announced Dog Unleashed was canceled after the company “received reports of actions taken” by Chapman during production that were a “breach” of the contractual obligations. The company completed a “thorough investigation, including the review of hours of audio and video material,” but it did not specify what the audio and video revealed. “We stand for equality and justice, and we will not be associated with projects that are not congruent with these values. Though it saddens us to part ways, we cannot in good conscience continue to work with those who do not share our values,” the companys statement read. Unleasheds statement made no mention of the CBD Global deal Chapman struck. Chapman did not initially comment on the shows cancellation, instead just wiping references to it from his Instagram page.

Dog the Bounty Hunter ran for eight seasons on A&E before wrapping in 2012. Chapman and his wife, Beth, subsequently stared in a spinoff for CMT titled Dog and Beth: On the Hunt. Chapman most recently appeared in Dogs Most Wanted on WGN America in 2019. That show aired for one season and chronicled Beth Chapmans death from cancer.

“We greatly respect the incredible work of Duane Chapman (AKA Dog the Bounty Hunter) tracking down and bringing fugitives to justice,” Donovan states. “Unfortunately, Unleashed Entertainment received reports of actions taken by Mr. Chapman during the show’s production that breach our contractual agreements.”

Donovan and Unleashed Entertainment declined further comment when contacted by Taste of Country. Chapman has not commented publicly on the news of the cancellation. Taste of Country reached out to Chapmans representative for comment and had received no answer at the time of publication.

The statement does not clarify what the company uncovered in its investigation, nor does it accuse Chapman of any specific actions. But the statement departs sharply from the reality star, concluding, “Unleashed Entertainment is not your average platform. Our values drive our programming. We stand for equality and justice, and we will not be associated with projects that are not congruent with these values. Though it saddens us to part ways, we cannot in good conscience continue to work with those who do not share our values.”

In a statement to Taste of Country and other media outlets, Unleashed Entertainment President and CEO Mike Donovan says the streaming company made the decision to cancel the show before it airs “with a heavy heart.”

Dog the Bounty Hunter is known for tracking down wanted fugitives, but it looks like the infamous reality star is embroiled in a legal drama of his own that continues to heat up. His newest show, Dog Unleashed, was canceled before it even aired, with Unleashed Entertainment claiming that he had breached his contract. Dog the Bounty Hunter responded a few days ago in a series of tweets that seem to imply wrongdoing by the production company, not himself. Dog the Bounty Hunter has headlined several shows over the years, with his namesake original show on A&E lasting eight years. Dog Unleashed would have been his first show since 2019. But he’s not out of the dog house – yet. Check back here for further updates on the situation as it unfolds.

Unleashed Entertainment didn’t specify further about what “racist and homophobic comments” were allegedly said by Dog the Bounty Hunter or to who. But the “illegal activity” seems as if it could be in reference to the now issued lawsuit against CBD Global Sciences.

Why was Dog’s new show, Dog Unleashed, canceled? Where is Duane Chapman now?

Dog the Bounty Hunter had a new reality show in the works called Dog Unleashed, but it was canceled before it even had a chance to premiere. The show featured Dog hunting the whereabouts of major criminals, “from rapists to murderers to child molesters.” It was set to premiere on a streaming platform called Unleashed Entertainment on April 1st.

Unleashed Entertainment President and CEO Mike Donovan released a statement on the cancelation. “We greatly respect the incredible work of Duane Chapman (AKA Dog the Bounty Hunter) tracking down and bringing fugitives to justice. Unfortunately, Unleashed Entertainment received reports of actions taken by Mr. Chapman during the show’s production that breach our contractual agreements.”
